DEVUSHKA-BABUSHKA

In 2004 I travelled to Russia and visited Moscow and St Petersburg. I applied my street photography style to document the relationship between people and spaces. While touring the Hermitage, I was particularly drawn to the female figures guarding the museum. Some of them had been working there for decades and their striking presence was as fascinating as the works of art on display.
